Here’s The Scoop..#1…It Is Time For 1 TERM-McIntee To Go…

November 26, 2008 by Barbara

IT IS TIME FOR 1 TERM-MCINTEE TO GO…

“He doesn’t speak for me”…said Chief Perkins…when this writer approached him to say …that it was he who asked me to re-submit my public records request on Sunday…(previously posted)… after the Vice Mayor’s bloviating during Commissioner Comments….full of exaggerated lies…of false accusations …that have no one to back them up…and no one….to go along with his absurd accounts of “witch hunts”…60-70 public records requests..assertions of written accounts …..

This is the second time in 2 days …the VFD Chief has taken a stand to separate himself and his department to this writer from the Vice Mayor…BRAVO!…It is time for 1 term- McIntee to go…

“What did I get myself into?’…said AMR -EMS Coordinator Brooke Liddle…right outside the door after experiencing his 4th LBTS Commission meeting.. since signing on to be the EMS contracted provider for the town…Once again telling this writer he thinks I give AMR a fair shake…he reads this site everyday…HURRAY!…It is time for 1 term-McIntee to go….

Resident and Futures’s Editor Michael Arker comes to the podium…along with his lawyer…and a history with McIntee of bad blood…looking for an appeal on his site plan extension for the Coral Key …..when advised by Arker’s counsel to “deliberate under the rules of law”…an embarrassment of Mc-“payback” ensued …calling the permit stamp “a scam”….a remark that will most likely be the catalyst…for the town to face a lawsuit…typed verbatim by the court reporter as well as documented on the tape….NICE!.. it is time for 1 term-McIntee to go….

Another applicant…for the Buena Vista Hotel steps up…another extension is needed to rectify a mistake made by the town….on the time allowed for their original site plan …this one goes much better…for the applicant is an unknown to the Vice Mayor…as he tips his hand…to say it will go through…before the vote…is taken by his fellow commissioners….LUCKY 1 TIME DEAL!…it is time for 1 term- Mcintee to go…

The Mayor has been subjected to the Mc-attack once more…..he “leaned” on vendors…the Mayor’s former campaign manager……threatening them with “felonies”…driving to their homes…their businesses…going to a local bank…puffing up his chest…(how did he represent himself to his prey…did he say he was Vice Mayor of this town?)….and in the end…he has the audacity to say…. “Was there a crime, absolutely not”……just a matter …of an event being run “shabbily” …after all the threats…the investigating…the badgering of the Mayor…it was because the event was “shabbily” run..YIKES!…….it is time for 1 term-McIntee to go….

You know what happens to bullies when they are all alone…….they flail…they threaten….they exaggerate…and they lose control……..it is time for 1 term- McIntee to go.

1 year and 3 months …more to come….

Local Papers…Bender … Part 4….Walter’s Words To Live By…

November 25, 2008 by Barbara

IT’S BENDER TIME….PART 4…’WIZARD OF POMPANO’

I have always remembered the statement made by Walter Cronkite in March of 2002. “Not only do we have a right to know, we have a duty to know what our Government is doing in our name. If there’s criticism to be made today, it’s that the press isn’t doing enough to put the pressure on the government to provide information.”’

November 25, 2008 by Barbara

HAPPY THANKSGIVING…THEIR GOOSE WAS NOT COOKED….

BTSTimes sent out an alert today online…..They will be around…to “serve” us some more …”staff writer” …anonymous Topix like articles…full of “slap” stuffings…say a prayer…

Attached to the alert…a full ad from Aruba…and Village Grille…for Thanksgiving Dinner…sorry to see these fine establishments are supporters of this kind of “stuff”…Thanksgiving pun intended…too bad…for these Chamber members…

more to come…unfortunately…from the new incarnation of the Mc-Furth BTSTimes…published straight out of the Blue Seas Courtyard Hotel……(change of address required…as all calls are directed there to the new owners…)…

Here’s The Scoop…Scene And Heard Around Town…

November 25, 2008 by Barbara

HOW MANY FIREMAN DOES IT TAKE TO TAKE CARE OF A 911…MEDICAL AMR CALL?…

Month 2…and the VFD is still following behind AMR on medical response calls…Building A..Sea Ranch Club…a sick resident…no doors to break down in a condo…so…the reason to follow this call?…

PROFESSIONAL VS. VOLUNTEER…

What happened?…The word sent to BCbythesea…the VFD was to install the Town Christmas Tree…with a professional company hired to do the decorating…we hear the electrician was a no-show…(was it the town contracted electrician?)….and the VFD jumped into action…put up the lights…the decorations…and lit the tree…

Was it a helpful assist?…or…was it over the line…stepping on the Chamber’s lined- up professionals?…

As the VFD firetrucks were pulling away around 6:45…with the Vice Mayor as driver…in street clothes…a question …is there regulation attire?

The tree…not so good…big gaps of no lights…may have been well intentioned…but hardly professional decorating….at its best…will there be a do over today?…

AND THE WALLS CAME TUMBLING DOWN…

What happened to the Bel Air entry walls?….

We hear there was a complaint…a call …to the Town…with the dastardly “buzz” words that perk up all government types…”liability to the town”…

Kids were playing…and could get hurt…and the longtime entry walls were taken down!…HUH?…

Commissioner Clottey did not know…HELLO?…2 sitting Commission members live in Bel Air…the walls had been there forever…and single handedly without commission knowledge…the walls were removed…YIKES!…

NUMBERS NOT ADDING UP…

No backup materials in the VFD monthly report…but what was included left some very astute readers …scratching their heads…the hours..do not add up…for the full 31 days…and the personnel…is a bit light in numbers also….HMMM……say it ain’t so…

Questions to be asked…tonight…creative numbers explained…Beach Patrol …and Station Watch hours…where are the Beach Patrol sign-up sheets…as stated in the VFD monthly meeting minutes?…

Note to non-“2 hats” Commissioners…ask away…no way any of these necessary questions are…”blindsiding” the Chief or the department…in fact the “2 hats” should start tonight recusing themselves…McIntee for 2 reasons..Silverstone for 1…

DAY 2…VFD E-MAIL RESPONSE….PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST…CHIEF PERKINS..

Still no word…Maybe he was busy trimming the tree?…….

more to come…

Here’s The Scoop…Christmas By The Sea…The Brainchild…The Backers…

November 24, 2008 by Barbara

A Little history on Christmas-By-The-Sea…from Town Topics…2006
Our major annual
events, Taste of the Beach and
Christmas-By-The-Sea, are well
attended by Town residents. Jazz
on the Square, first initiated by the
Chamber and now sponsored by a
valued director, Dave Gadsby, is a
favorite with many locals. The 30-
foot Christmas tree was also the
brainchild of Mr. Gadsby. The fund
drive was sponsored by the Cham-
ber and financed by local busi-
nesses and a few residents to the
tune of $30,000 plus.

Here’s The Scoop…Re-E-Mailed VFD Public Records Request…Count Down To A Reply

November 24, 2008 by Barbara

Dear Readers…This will be Day 1 of the VFD Count-Down for a reply for a Public Records Request…from Chief Perkins….
The Chief instructed this taxpaying writer to re-submit my unanswered requests …..and he would respond…including a response he is in receipt of the e-mailed inquiry, and when it would be forthcoming…
Of course being more than a little leery…gun-shy of the after effects of such an offer…now known to other less cooperative “2 hats” VFD members…I remain skeptical of the Sunday…independent declaration made by the Chief…
This time I hope my assumptions are wrong…and we will see just when this count-down to a reply is null and void…
Updates to be posted…shades of the Fox News Election Count Down…and Chris Wallace waiting for Obama to come on his show…
THE E-MAIL…as instructed…below…
Sunday, November 23, 2008 6:02 PM
From:

To:

Cc:

Chief Perkins;

Thank You.

Updates…Chamber Art/Craft Fair……Anglin Monument…Counting Candidates…

November 24, 2008 by Barbara

A LITTLE HISTORY……. 10 YEARS OF LBTS ARTS AND CRAFT FAIRS…

Thank you for your very nice remarks on the Art/Craft Show. A little background: 10 years ago when I was Program Manager for the Main Street Program (that went belly up) I brought the show to town. After Main Street folded I gave it to the Chamber who has been doing it ever since. Howard Alan Events (he does the Las Olas Art Show) gets all the vendors, does all the advertising and we set up a booth to sell our LBTS merchandise. When Bill Davis was president he had the very brilliant idea to offer the parking lot to our Chamber members at a reduced cost compared to what Howard Alan charges to help out our local businesses. It has worked very well and this past week-end the members were all happy with the crowds that attended.
Just thought you might like to know how this all happened.
Judy
Thanks for the background…faithful readers love to know this stuff…and what a surprise that on the 10th anniversary…former President…and LBTS business owner Bill Davis finally took part in his own “brilliant idea”…to find out just how brilliant it was!…
Note to readers…background and history from individuals and organizations…are always welcome…and encouraged!…

Many at the Arts and Craft Fair were glum …hearing the news…of no Christmas-By- The- Sea festivities this year…just a simple tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 2nd, 7 pm…Hopefully next year…we will be back on track…

THE ANGLIN MONUMENT …

What’s up with the historic Anglin Monument that is stuck out in front of the Minto construction site?…

Long ago Minto came to the podium and discussed the move of this cherished monument….. was this another case of staff dropping the ball?…This oversight needs to be addressed…ASAP!…

THEY ARE LINING UP…

Yet another resident stepped forward with a name of another formidable candidate…this resident hopes to inspire to run for commission from the north end of town…to oppose McIntee if he decides to make another run for commission from this side of town…this writer’s lips are sealed…but… WOW…if this keeps up…the race will be quite crowded …offering enormous opportunity for the town to choose new elected officials with credentials unsurpassed…and calm …pleasant demeanors sorely desired by the residents…

more to come…

Note to readers….in the VFD 9/8/08 meeting minutes…(VFD category)

(creative accounting alert below)

‘Beach Patrol has only been budgeted for 20 paid hours a week. Personnel on ATV exceeding the 2 hours will be credited for station watch.

Question is…how many ATV hours were put under Station Watch hours?

That is the whole VFD monthly report…sad to say…

f. AMR Fire Rescue Monthly Report..in comparison was highly organized with pages of their call sheets..times etc.. from 10/01-10/31…Med 12 went on 113 calls with average response time…3:41…also take note of New Business item 16 f…to place a commissioner on an AMR review board…brought forth at the last commission meeting….

6. public safety discussion…no backup…either a new meeting agenda item…to leave a time certain open on the agenda for public safety inquiries…or?….

10. Ordinances 1st reading…public comments allowed…

a. Ordinance 2008-25…Dangerous Dogs…previous post…last agenda…meeting…Vice Mayor …”lifted” this item from Comm. Clottey who originally introduced the topic after calls from her constituents…and a memo was sent to the commission from the Town Attorney on the subject…it will haver no effect on dogs presently living in town…and careful thought should go into this ordinance…public should speak…

12. Consent Agenda…

a-d…all special events…for St. Patrick’s Day/Super Bowl /New Years Eve for Village Grille and the annual 2/22/08 A1A marathon..

13. Resolution…public comments

a. Resolution 2008-31…to urge the Florida Legislature to include S. Fl. in its fair share of funds…with the north…an offshoot of the latest newspaper articles concerning the long held historical inequity…in plain-speak…a waste of time…cost for the Town Atty. to draw up…waste of time for the commission/legislature…with the expectation it will fall on deaf ears and be filed away with other such useless resolutions…that come down the pike…

b. Resolution 2008-32 amending the 2007/2008 fiscal budget…

14. Quasi Judicial Hearing…public comments…sworn in…

a. Coral Key appeal…see previous BOA/agenda/commission posts…this was continued due to poor health of the applicant Michael Arker…and will be presented…most likely will be denied…

15. Old Business

a. Discussion and/or action regarding drafting an ordinance to pull bags from the meters on Bougainvilla/Poinciana…tabled from 3/25/8 by Vice mayor…staff requests it tabled again until 12/16 …awaiting results on Topics straw poll…

backup had one letter from Rossi Jewelers owner…who wrote that in “theory” the bags are a good idea …but in practice…remove the bags…

b. Discussion and/or action shade trees at Washingtonia portal…Comm. Silverstone…tabled from last meeting…staff wants it tabled again until 12/16…waiting on Garden Club input…

c. AMR incident report…Comm. Dodd…was tabled from last meeting…a miscommunication perhaps…on what is protocol and what is covered under Hipaa laws…we shall see…

d. Town Commission approval of conceptual Bel Air subdivision sign design.. Assist. Olinzock/Manager Colon…

This is the $20 thousand set aside from the now defunct TerraMar Bridge repair funds…with numbers from LBTS contracted engineers Chen and Assoc…totaling $16,479 for the entire project…it is a shiny stone with a town emblem at the top with Bel Air carved in below…

e. Discussion and/or action regarding…

1. provide assurance, including financial assurance that the artificial reef structure be maintained throughout its design life, and removal of in a timely manner because of adverse effect on essential fish habitat to NOAA National Marine Fisheries..

2.Approval of execution of USCG private aids to navigation application for Artificial Reef Project…Assistant Town Manager Olinzock…Town put aside $60,280 for this project…Town sent in $250 on 11/12/08 for permit processing fee…

f. Discussion and/or action to form an Oversight Committee for Public Safety…Mayor Minnet…Ball is in Comm. Clottey’s court on this one…she will be the deciding vote after observing the past 2 attempts to get this going…1st test…to see if … MCINTEE…RECUSES HIMSELF…due to son’s VFD employment..(previous posts)….ethically Silverstone and McIntee should have recused themselves from all discussion and voting on oversight because it is oversight over them as VFD members……

16. New Business

a.Discussion and/ or action to find funds to complete Seagrape Drive Project…requested 11/10/08 by Vice mayor McIntee…after he was ready to do it …in haste…clearly not having read the backup materials to the 11/10/08 agenda…showing the large bill to enact…stumbling after his political play..he drew back to this action after the Manager filled him in…

According to this 11/25/08 backup…

Seagrape Drive …this if enacted will be change order #3…(HMMM…seems like more, including Washingtonia…)..it will increase the construction time to 1/31/09…increase the project cost to a whopping…$1,192,412.18….making this addition…cost $32,039.00…with an increase to the Engineer..of $5000…with the Engineer total cost…$98,500.00…

A look at Seagrape Drive will show…just a topping off of asphalt…fix the pitch…by Tenex or the Town…and leave the private drive area for the residents to pay for…remember Palm Club…

b. & c….Buena Vista Hotel…site plan extension…a 2 parter due to a mistake made with the original site plan…being made for 18 months when the Town only allows a 12 month site plan with required extensions after that…

d. Discussion and/or action concerning drafting a referendum for a Charter change to take effect (worded incorrectly…’after’ on agenda…should be ‘from’ the referendum on…meaning before the 2010 election ) for the next election in 2010 to prevent a conflict of interest ever occurring between employment with a public safety provider for the Town of LBTS and that of the elected official…Comm Dodd…NO MORE 2 HATS ON THE DAIS!…YEA!

e. DEFLECTING ALERT…LIVES TO SEE ANOTHER MEETING….Discussion and/ or action regarding complete accounting of Green Fest- copies of all materials made. Why were bills sent to Coconut Creek, Fl. and why were supplies sent there…Vice Mayor McIntee….

Note to…Madam Mayor…supply the written materials…and do not answer from the dais…although every time McIntee goes after you…your future voting re-election numbers go up!…

f. Discussion and/or action to appoint Commissioner to AMR Medical Review Board…Comm. Dodd…should be Comm. Dodd…they appoint…if so…will it be 3-2?…

g. Discussion and/or action Oriana walkway lights…Comm Dodd…apparently the Commissioner walked by…and was blinded by the lights?…

h. Discussion and/ or action for costs to have an interactive straw poll on the Town’s website…while maintaining Town Topics for non computer access residents…Comm. Dodd

i. Discussion and/or action entryway flag poles…Comm. Dodd…

Are the minutes different than the video?…If not then no flag poles were voted on for the entryways…just one flag pole on Commercial…can the ones for north and south…can the change in Town signs…too…save the funds…drop the project…

j. Discussion and/or action increasing the fines for false fire alarms…Vice Mayor McIntee…

7 calls to the Mayor’s Condo building…is the impetus for this move…the current Ordinance 271 is from 1985…Sec. 3 ..4 times in a 12 month period…anymore…calls for a $50 fee…with 30 days to pay or a lien on the property will take place…

This writer talked to Chief Perkins about this…he said that other municipalities charge $150…this writers opinion…$50 for single family homes…after 4 time…and $150 for multi/Condos/ Hotels/ businesses…..

Speaking of fees…at the Art and Crafts Fair on Sun…..Chief Perkins said the town has not had any fire inspection s in years…so a town-wide fire inspection will be done…fees will be in line with Broward unless the commission decides otherwise…he added the VFD does have a Fire Inspector named Steve Payne (sp?) and the Town has a Fire Marshall who just passed his Broward testing…part time hire……

k. DEJA VU…PROPERTY PURCHASE ITEM…Discussion and/or action regarding offer to Town to buy the property behind the McIntee Public Safety Complex for $800 thousand…(1 million less than the identical sized property we purchased)…Comm. Silverstone…as previously posted…the last purchase gave a large number of new majority voters…voters remorse…this one if voted in…will be the last straw 1 year and 3 months out from the next election…

l. PISSING MATCH ALERT…Discussion regarding accusations made by Comm. Dodd on actions by the Town Manager regarding distribution of information to all Town Commissioner…Comm. Silverstone You mean the Manager would not have stepped in to say this was not necessary…This could this open up another can of worms…with more embarrassing dais exchanges……

m. Discussion and/or action concerning adjusting the cost of hardship and other parking permits to be in line what other municipalities charge…Comm. Clottey…no backup…no comparisons…did staff drop the ball on research once again?…

n. Discussion and/or action concerning the attachment of light fixture to electric power transmission pole SE 19 St. just west of A1A. Area is very dark…Comm. Clottey..

Overview after the Tues. night meeting…
