Proposed Amendment #2

Providing for November Elections And Four Year Term Of Office For Mayor

Shall section 6 of the Pompano Beach City Charter be amended to provide for City elections in Nov. concurrent with state and national elections; extending and shortening of elected officials’ terms to accomplish the transition; and extending the term of the office of mayor to four years?

BCbythesea…previous post…on the return to LBTS March elections.by the new Commission…..and this writer’s change of opinion…with the possibility of Pompano joining the other neighboring municipalities …and the success of the Jan. election…the commission should re-address this issue…for cost…and necessity…

The idea of a 4 year Mayor should also be considered…as many are reluctant to run for only a 2 year term…

Proposed Amendment #3

Vice- Mayor To Act As Mayor If Vacancy

Shall section 9 of the Pompano Beach City Charter be amended to provide (1) that the City Commission will not appoint a Mayor if a vacancy in that office occurs within 6 months of a general election and (2) tp provide that the Vice- Mayor shall act as Mayor if vacancy in the office occurs except when the vacancy ids filled by special election.

BCbythesea…regardless of who is the present Vice Mayor…something to think about….for the future…
