THE 5 YEAR PLAN….
A relatively quiet night at Village Grille for a Saturday night… due to it being ….off season…with a dash of rainy…humid weather…and the economy?….
Had dinner with a few friends…and was pleased to see former Mayoral candidate…Chair of the P & Z L. Peanuts Wick is back in town….
Now maybe the P & Z can get down to business….with the MPSC and get the defunct Overlay Districts…reworked and back to the dais… for the commission to vote on….allowing developers to come back to town….to develop the right way….knowing the correct guidelines to follow…….
BCbythesea…It is a relief to know that Peanuts will be at the “helm” of the P & Z…for these important decisions being made..and not his P & Z Vice Chair…due to this writer’s lack of confidence in Ms Furth’s ability to run a meeting…as witnessed at the present time with the state of the CIC board and organization under her leadership….
Also on their plate this year…a new 5 year plan…Master and Comprehensive…and …to get the zoning in line for the whole town…the land use plan… …that was passed…but still in sore need of major redefining…..much of what was pushed through still has “hanging chads”….of what is allowed in the north and south end of town…what is “grandfathered”…and some items that were removed have never been readdressed…such as hedges…and docks…
BCbythesea…with the recent variances…..fences…and pools …need to be included also….previous posts…under public notices/boards…categories…
It will take the input from the new boards…and those citizens…elected officials…members of boards… who were previously involved with past plans…
A look at the 2004 Master Plan…shows there were many involved…in numbers of a hundred or more gathering …meeting to do what will now be necessary once again……..they should come back ….assured they will be welcomed…and heard…alongside those of us…who want to be involved….. along with open communication with the commission and the administration…
One kink …at the moment…the lack of a first rate Director of Development…and staff…
BCbythesea…This is why this time…with this hire…although it is her specified “duty”…in her job description to hire the director and staff…with her past track record……the Town Manager should include the commissioners…
It would be a terrible blow…to see yet another substandard pick from a limited “headhunting” process….such as the Town Atty…and some questionable department heads that might be lacking in the required qualifications…previous posts…
This time ….we don’t need to reinvent the wheel….we might not need to pay thousands for a “consultant” or another study…. this time….we can get this one right…using the the people who live in this town…all of the people…….
